Shipping deadlines for Holiday 2022

Major carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and even local delivery companies are continuing to have delays delivering packages on time. The guidance we’ve collected from our shipping partners and their expected capacity to deliver packages informed the following shipping deadlines:

 

Place your order with Economy shipping by 5 pm ET on Wednesday, December 15 for delivery by 8 pm local time on December 24

Place your order with Standard (including free Perks) shipping by 5 pm ET on Monday, December 20 for delivery by 8 pm local time on December 24

Place your order with Expedited shipping by 5 pm ET on Tuesday, December 21 for delivery by 8 pm local time on December 24

Place your order with Express shipping by 5 pm ET on Wednesday, December 22 for delivery by 8 pm local time on December 24

 

While Christmas is the most popular holiday that our customers tend to shop for in December, we recognize that there are many other holidays and events that you may need help choosing a shipping method for. Our checkout process will show you the various shipping options, costs, and estimated delivery dates so you can choose the best option for you. We are not currently able to delay shipping until a later date.

 

Our advice: order as early as you can. We cannot guarantee that 100% of orders will be delivered on time; our carriers are doing their very best to deliver your packages on time, but we can’t foresee all possible problems. 

 

When will my order ship?

Most orders leave our warehouse within 2 – 5 business days. Orders placed with Expedited or Express shipping will leave our warehouse even faster. We’ll email you tracking as soon as it’s available. Orders that are placed on weekends will not ship until at least the next business day. 

Items that ship directly from the artist, are custom-made, or are on backorder will ship by the date indicated on the item page. We’ll also remind you throughout checkout and on your order confirmation email if you’ve chosen one of these items and what their expected ship date is.

During COVID-19 we’re seeing more carrier delays than usual, so we’d advise you to give yourself a bit of buffer time if you need an item or a gift to arrive by a certain date.

If you’ve already placed your order, you can use our Order Lookup page, enter your order number (be sure to omit the dash: 12345678, not 12345678-1), and billing address zip code to see your expected delivery date. Your order will ship at least 1 business day before your expected delivery date.

Shipping options and costs

Our shipping prices are based on the value of the items in your order and on the service level you choose. When calculating your total shipping time, please keep in mind that the day the package is shipped or picked up from our warehouse is not considered the first business day; start counting business days from the first full day that the package is “in transit” to you.

Note: business days are Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and Federal holidays. 

Items shipping directly from the vendor/artist and items on backorder will take longer, and this difference is noted on the item page. We’ll let you know throughout the checkout process if you’ve chosen one of these items before you pay for your order.

When will my order be delivered?

We message expected delivery dates when you select your shipping option in checkout, throughout the rest of the checkout process, in the order confirmation email, and on the track/manage order page.

Please give the carrier until 8 pm local time on your expected delivery date for them to deliver your order.

Return instructions

We’ve made returning things even easier!

For orders that shipped within the U.S. follow the steps below and start your return online and print a free return label. For orders that shipped outside of the U.S., please visit our International Return instructions FAQ.

Create a return online:

1. Log into your account or click here to find your order. 
2. Enter your 8-digit order number and billing zip code, then choose one of two options to begin: mceclip0.png
3. Check the box next to the item(s) that you’d like to return, then start your return. 
4. Gift recipients can select “Return a gift” before starting a return and the purchaser will not be notified. 
5. Choose the reason for your return and a refund method, then enter any additional refund information that may be needed.

6. Enter the email address where we’ll send a confirmation and pre-paid return label, then submit your return.

Please Note:

If you are using track and manage to report a missing piece or component to your item, be sure to enter those details in the additional notes box, which you’ll be prompted with only after selecting: report a problem > selecting the return box next to the item > selecting the damage/incomplete drop down.

 

Shipping your return:

1. Pack your items securely. Include your packing slip (not required).
2. Attach the label to the shipping box and give it to any postal worker. 
3.  We’ll process your return once we receive it in our warehouse. Transit time for us to receive your return can be as long as 3 weeks from the day you send it back. 

Please Note

  • Returns that are not received by our warehouse after 40 days of creating the return label are automatically closed in our system. Please contact us at help@uncommongoods.com if your return has not been shipped or processed by warehouse after 40 days of creating your return label.
  • Customized and made-to-order items cannot be returned.
  • Our fine jewelry line comes with a 30-day return policy – after 30 days, returns are not eligible.

Our return & refund policy

We stand behind our items and we don’t put time limits on returns. How many retailers can say that they have a forever return policy?

Return Processing Time:

  • Returns typically take 2-3 weeks to receive and process. 
  • Once we receive your return, we will process the refund, replacement, or issue a gift certificate depending on your desired refund method.

Please note

Returns that are not received by our warehouse after 40 days of creating the return label are automatically closed in our system. Please contact us at help@gotyousomething.com if your return has not been shipped or processed by warehouse after 40 days of creating your return label.

 

Refunds:

  • Refunds can only be issued to the purchaser’s original payment method or as a gift certificate.
  • Issued refunds may take 3-5 business days to post to your payment account.
  • Issued email gift certificates may take 24 hours to arrive in your inbox and post mail gift certificates usually deliver within 3-6 business days.
  • Refunds are issued only for returned items and do not include the cost of shipping.
  • Gift recipients can select “Return a gift” before starting a return and the purchaser will not be notified. Click here to learn more about return instructions. 
  • Gift recipients who have returned an item or reported an order problem can request a gift certificate, replacement order, or a refund back to the purchaser’s original payment method only. We are unable to refund a gift recipient’s payment card or issue gift recipient check refund.

Ineligible Returns:

  • We regret that customized items cannot be returned.
    • An exception to this would be our fine jewelry line, which comes with a 30-day return policy – after 30 days, returns are not eligible. 
  • At this time, we are unable to process exchanges for online returns.
  • Return refunds can be issued back to the original PayPal transaction within 12 months of the purchase. If the PayPal transaction has exceeded 12 months, a check will be issued to the purchaser.
  • If the original payment card has been canceled, expired, or was closed, a check will be issued to the purchaser. 
  • If we suspect a return to be fraudulent, abusive, or unduly repetitive, we reserve the right to refuse it and no returns will be granted.
PO Boxes, APO, FPO, DPO, and US Territories

We’re happy to ship your order to a PO Box!* Orders shipping to PO Boxes may initially be sent via FedEx but final delivery will be made by USPS. Please choose Economy, Standard, or Preferred shipping when shipping to a PO Box. Faster shipping options are not available.

*Certain customized items are not eligible to ship to PO Boxes and must be shipped to a physical address. If you’ve ordered a customized item that is ineligible for PO Box shipping, you will be notified via email by our Custom Orders Team. 

APO / FPO and US Territory addresses:

Sadly, we are unable to ship to APO, FPO, or DPO addresses at this time. We are working towards a solution that will allow us to resume this type of shipping.

It’s especially painful for us to not be able to ship to APO, FPO, or DPO addresses. We have many employees who have served our country, and we appreciate the sacrifices of the men and women who are serving our country.

Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii

Once you place items in your shopping basket and proceed to checkout, pricing will be calculated based on the cost of the items you are purchasing and the shipping type you choose.

Where do you ship from?

We have three main shipping locations; Brooklyn, NY, Nashville, TN and Sparks, NV. A small percent of our orders, generally customized items, ship directly from the artist to the customer.

Delay shipping

We’re unable to delay shipping on our orders. If you absolutely cannot have a package arrive so soon, please contact us and we’ll help you figure out the best date for you to place your order and have it arrive on or near the date you need. 

Items shipping directly from the vendor/artist and items on backorder will take longer, and this time frame is noted on the item page and throughout checkout. We’ll let you know if you’ve chosen one of these items before you pay for your order. 

When calculating your shipping time please keep in mind that the day the package is shipped from our warehouse is not considered the first business day; the first full day that the package is “in transit” is when you should start calculating the business days.

Carriers and other delivery information

We primarily use USPS and FedEx. Orders shipped with Economy service are typically delivered by USPS. We use two regional carriers called OnTrac & CDL for some of our orders shipping to the western (OnTrac) and eastern (CDL) portion of the United States.

If your order is shipping to a PO box address, final delivery will always be made by USPS regardless of which shipping type you choose.

Orders shipping outside of the US typically use DHL for Express orders, and local carriers (i.e. Canada Post) for Standard orders.

A few tips:

  • We are unable to send specific delivery information, such as “leave on the back porch” or “please deliver after 4 pm” to the carriers.
  • Deliveries normally occur between 8 am and 8 pm, but we are unable to request or guarantee a specific delivery time or window of time.
  • Packages delivered within the United States typically don’t require signatures unless they exceed $500 in value or they are custom-made and of high value.
